Queensland and New South Wales shared the spoils after day one of the Elite Eight Series in the 2013 X-Blades National Touch League at the BCU International Stadium at Coffs Harbour.

The two oldest touch rivals have teams undefeated in the men’s and women’s opens divisions.

Queensland Chiefs and NSW Scorpions came away from the first three rounds unscathed in the women’s opens competition.

Both sides sit on 12 points with the Chiefs on top due to a superior for and against record.

The Chiefs have been very dominant in their three matches.

They recorded two 10-3 victories over the NSW Country Mavericks and Queensland South Stingrays, and were very impressive against defending Elite Eight champions NSW Mets, winning 4-1.

The Scorpions haven’t inflicted big scores like the Chiefs but have done enough to maintain a perfect record.

They were 4-2 victors over Queensland Country Outlaws, 9-6 winners over the Alliance and came away with the cookies, 6-3 against the Mavericks.

It sets up a mouth-watering clash tomorrow afternoon with the Scorpions and the Chiefs to go head-to-head in round five at 3.30pm.

The Alliance and the Mets round out the top four.

The Outlaws and NSW Rebels will be hoping to get their first wins of the competition tomorrow.

In the men’s, three teams remain unbeaten but it is the Outlaws and Mets who lead the way.

Both won their three matches with the Outlaws on top due to for and against.

The Queenslanders defeated the defending champions NSW Scorpions 10-5 followed by comfortable wins over Queensland South Stingrays (11-5) and the Alliance (9-5).

The Mets enjoyed victories over the Stingrays (7-5), the Chiefs (10-7) and the Rebels (8-6).

The Mavericks could have joined the two sides with three wins but two draws today mean they are third.

After a big first round win, the Alliance are fourth on six points.

The Scorpions, Chiefs and Rebels have yet to enter the winners’ circle.
